All three of the components of these pieces: pearl, leather and mother-of-pearl bead, are things you can feel good about in that they are renewable and sustainable.
Our search for the strongest and best leather in the world lead us to kangaroo leather. As travelers and lovers of everything outdoors, our goal was to make a necklace that doesn't ever need to be taken off and can be worn in the water, fancy hotels, on chicken buses or while climbing snowy peaks.
Our research taught us that kangaroos are harvested to keep wild populations healthy. Amazingly, kangaroos also have dramatically less impact on the ozone than livestock and don't require precious farmland, making them also the most ecological leather available. This seemed like the perfect material to pair with our sustainably produced pearls.
Other leather we use includes USA, ecologically dyed cow leather and sustainable deer leather.
